Greek Week is a week of events where Greek community members come together for fun and service.
This is the first Greek Week that all three Greek councils, College Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Interfraternity Council, will participate.
Lauren Bartlett, vice president of philanthropy and community service for CPC, said all three councils really wanted to show the Greek unity on campus.
“We wanted to create something that everyone would want to go to and show all the great things that we can accomplish by coming together,” Bartlett said.
NPHC will host a hot wing eating contest on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Union.
The IFC will host a money drop in the Thad Cochran Center on Monday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 4:30-8 p.m. There will be a CPC profit share Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Qdoba from 5-10 p.m. Proceeds from both events will go toward the Campus Beautification Campaign.
CPC, NPHC and IFC have partnered with the Southern Miss Activities Council for the biggest event of Greek Week, Greek Friday Night At The Fountain. This event will be held on Friday, Oct. 4 from 7-10 p.m. on Centennial Lawn.
The event will feature a pep rally from 7-8 p.m., a set from comedian Steve Hofstetter from 8-9 p.m. and a performance from local musician Gary Stanton from 9-10 p.m. The event is free, but the three councils will have representatives on hand to collect donations for the Campus Beautification Campaign.
Bartlett said she is excited for this year’s Greek Week and hopes the Greek community and Southern Miss students and alumni will participate in the various activities.
