If you’ve thought you’ve seen all that Netflix has to offer, think again. Be prepared to rekindle your undying love for the streaming site as it prepares to roll out a healthy amount of original content. Action series, comedy specials and pieces of 90’s nostalgia that will be sure to collect a few binge-watchers here and there.
Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones (November 20, 2015)
Daredevil fans are rejoicing with the release of this highly anticipated action packed show that takes viewers into the life of resident bad-girl, Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter), as she rids the streets of crime. For those not familiar with the famous comic book plot, think Wonder Woman meets Olivia Benson of Law & Order: SUV. The show plans to cover topics of rape, sexuality and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
A Very Murray Christmas (December 4, 2015)
With the holidays upon us, it makes perfect sense for Netflix to be gearing up release content to get their viewers into the holiday spirit. Luckily for them, Bill Murray is willing to lend a helping hand. His holiday special hits Netflix right after Thanksgiving and will viewers the satirical Christmas they have been waiting for. There will be music, comedy and a whole lot of Murray.
F is For Family (December 18. 2015)
Animation hasn’t been at the forefront of Netflix’s notoriety in years past, but that is all about to change with their latest family comedy series that is sure to give The Simpsons fans a run for their money. As the brainchild of Bill Burr and Michael Price, the 70s based sitcom plans to pack laughs and poke fun at a variety of modern-day complaints.
Degrassi: Next Class (Early 2016)
If you grew up knowing Drake as wheel-chair ridden basketball star, Jimmy Brooks, then prepare to indulge in a bit of early 2000s nostalgia. After Degrassi ended its 14th season on TeenNick this past July, many thought the community school they had grown to love had finally closed its doors for good. Only, the shows creators had other planned and recently announced their move to the streaming site that will introduce the teen soap to an entirely new generation. Word has it, classes at Degrassi will begin in early 2016 and there is no word on if Drake will be attending–even though a professor cameo wouldn’t exactly hurt the ratings.
Chelsea Does (January 2016)
Aside from the occasional inappropriate Instagram post, Chelsea Handler has kept a relatively low profile since her exit from E! Entertainment. However, she has kept herself busy filming and preparing for her Netflix takeover. It will all start with her behind-the-scenes docu-series and will continue on with her long awaited talk show (the first of its kind for Netflix).
Fuller House (2016)
It’s safe to say there isn’t a person with a pulse who isn’t excited for the release of this Full House reboot. The whole gang (excluding two very famous twins) will be making their big return to help DJ Tanner navigate life as a single parent. There hasn’t been much talk aside from that as to what everyone else’s storylines will be, but having TV’s favorite 90’s family back is all that really matters.
