The Southern Miss baseball team has had the C-USA spotlight on them all season with their rankings in the national polls time and time again. At the end of the season, they were recognized for their efforts this season with eight USM players placing on All-Conference teams.
Jake Sandlin, Dylan Burdeaux, Tim Lynch, Kirk McCarty and Chuckie Robinson all were awarded first team selections.
Cord Cockrell, who was injured for a brief period late in the season, was named a second-team All-Conference selection. Cockrell may have had the potential to be a first team selection after posting a 7-1 record with a 3.31 ERA and striking out 44 batters.
Nick Sandlin and Hunter Slater were the two freshmen to make the All-Freshman team after the two helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 36-18 record in the regular season. Slater was fourth on the team in batting average with a .328 in his 128 at-bats.
Southern Miss will open their C-USA tournament appearance on Wednesday against Old Dominion in Hattiesburg at 4 p.m. in Pete Taylor Park.
