The iPhone 8 Plus will also feature portrait lighting, which allows users to alter the lighting effect while taking photos and edit images taken in portrait mode.
In place of Touch ID, the iPhone X will use Face ID, which uses the TrueDepth camera to unlock phones regardless of how users may change their appearances. The camera will also ensure that similar images of the user’s face will not be able to unlock the phone.
A new feature on the iPhone X, Animoji, will allow users to send emojis that mirror their movements and speech.
When asked about their initial reactions to the announcement, students commented on whether or not they planned on getting either phone.
“I will not buy the iPhone 8,” USM senior and longtime Apple customer Evan Jones said. “There’s no real reason for me to get one.”
“I’m excited to see the releases, but I don’t intend to buy them,” junior Jessica Fields said. “They’re just too expensive.”
Despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback, iPhone users demonstrated their loyalty to Apple and its products.
“I’m not going to change. I like the UI [user interface] of both their computers and phones,” Jones said.
