From 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 7, illusionist Mike Super will perform for students and faculty in the Thad Cochran Center as part of a Southern Miss Activities Council (SMAC) event.
While Southern Miss has had a multitude of illusionists perform in the past, SMAC members stress that this event is quite unique. According to mikesuper.com, “his legions of fans call themselves ‘The Superfreaks’ and they number in the millions.”
He has won a multitude of awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Best Performing Artist of the Year and Best Novelty Artist of the Year. He was also voted America’s Favorite Mystifier on Phenomenon.
He has even performed for the Hollywood elite, with audience members such as fellow illusionist Criss Angel, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and pop-culture presence Kim Kardashian. Super has also performed on college campuses across the nation.
“A year ago, several SMAC members had the chance to see Mike Super perform at the national NACA convention in Nashville and he was so entertaining,” said SMAC member Rachel Luckett. “He was interactive and personal with the audience and kept our attention the entire show.”
“The students should take advantage of being able to see him for free and prepare to be truly amazed by the unique tricks he performs in his show,” she said.
“This is going to be a very fun and unique event and experience for the students at Southern Miss,” said Gavin Snyder, SMAC president. “SMAC has worked hard on booking him to entertain us all, and we would love for you to come out and show your support. Mike Super is sure to shock and awe everyone who attends.”
The event will be held in Ballrooms II and III, with free admission provided to those with a valid student or staff ID.
