In anticipation of upcoming commencement ceremonies, the Southern Miss Transfers Student Association (TSA) recently hosted a graduation celebration activity in the Thad Cochran Center for the graduating class of 2024, complete with food, fun, and fellowship.
With the academic year soon ending, TSA organized a heartfelt event to honor the achievements of graduating students and bid them farewell as they embark on new adventures beyond the university walls. The executive board members and the advisor of TSA also gave out gifts which included a t-shirt mini hat tassel and pin to the graduating class. And many guests of fellow transfer students came out to see the recognitions and hear about the goals of the graduating transfer students.
The advisor for the Transfer Student Association, Emily Thornton, provided some insight into the event.
“So tonight, we honored our transfer graduates that are graduating in May and December through the Transfer Student Association and tonight we got together and had some food and some fun,” Thornton said. “We honor our graduates that are coming up in two weeks.”
TSA is a student organization that helps connect transfer students and assist each other in areas of need at the university level. The group strives to inform transfer students about happenings on campus and engage in both the Southern Miss and Hattiesburg communities. And they are housed in Cook Library in the Center for Student Success.
If you would like to be involved in TSA, the TSA Executive Team applications are open, and the TSA leadership team is open as well.
For the leadership team for TSA, there are five positions in the executive board and ten positions in the leadership team which are open to students. Thornton stated the plan to work in the summer to plan out the academic school year for next year.
