Beginning the season, the Golden Eagles will have 2 exhibition games which will see them take on the New Orleans Privateers at Lakefront Arena on October 22nd, and one home game against the Jackson State Tigers at Reed Green Coliseum on October 28th.
The non-conference slate for the Golden Eagles will see their first encounter with a team from the MAC as they’ll kickoff the season on November 4th against the Bowling Green Falcons. The teams first away test will see a rematch of the 2023 NIT opener against the UAB Blazers. In their encounter last season, Southern Miss were able to scrap out a win against the Birmingham squad 85-83.
The team will then face NAIA Opponent Loyola New Orleans on November 12th, before starting a 3 game stretch away from home, as they’ll take on South Dakota State on November 20th, before then traveling to Bozeman, Montana to take on Montana State on November 25th, and then face off against Abilene State in Montana on November 25th before returning back home to face off against Milwaukee on November 30th to finish off the November slate of games.
December will see the Golden Eagles start off the month back at Reed Green as they will take on Alabama State on December 5th, before taking on longtime rival Tulane away from home on December 10th, then to see another state rival in the Ole Miss Rebels.
Finishing out the non-conference slate will see the Golden Eagles take on Lamar on December 17th, before taking on William Carey on December 30th in a battle for the Mayor’s Cup.
Heading into conference play, the first Sun Belt test will see the Golden Eagles take on the Thundering Herd of Marshall on December 21st, before a trip to Virginia to take on James Madison on January 2nd, then Old Dominion on January 4th. The Eagles will return back to Reed Green on January 9th to take on UL Monroe on the 9th, then Texas State on the 11th.
After the two-game stint at Reed Green, the Golden Eagles will be back on the road to face off against South Alabama on January 15th in Mobile, before meeting the Bobcats of Texas State again on January 18th, then heading back to Alabama to take on the Troy Trojans on the 2th, which the Golden Eagles will remain on the road for the last game away from Reed Green against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns’ on January 25th.
The Eagles will have another two-game home stint as they face off against Arkansas State on January 29th, before seeing Georgia Southern February 1st before another away trip against App State on February 5th before facing off against a MAC school that will be announced in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. The Eagles will remain on the road following that game as they’ll travel to Jonesboro to see the Arkansas State Red Wolves on February 12th, then UL Monroe on February 15th. The Golden Eagles will close out the season with a four-game home stretch that sees Coastal Carolina on February 20th, the Ragin Cajuns’ of Louisiana on February 22nd, South Alabama on February 26th, and to finish the season off against the Troy Trojans on February 28th.
