Southern Miss students now have a tool to streamline their busy schedules and stay informed about campus events with the introduction of Eagle Hub, a centralized app designed to enhance student engagement.
With a campus brimming with events, meetings, and opportunities, students at the University of Southern Mississippi often struggle to keep track of everything happening around them. Eagle Hub, a new app, seeks to change that by offering a digital platform that consolidates event information and encourages student involvement.
Many students have found it challenging to stay up to date due to the number of activities happening simultaneously.
“I think it is difficult to stay updated with campus events because there’s always something going on, and numerous organizations are always having events and meetings around the same time,” said Karrington Commodore, a USM student.
This confusion often leads to students missing valuable opportunities simply because they were unaware of them. Eagle Hub was developed to address this issue by enhancing the student experience through a modern, accessible platform.
“It was created to help, well, essentially bring the student experience into the 21st century with digital tools that allow students to experience all that Southern Miss has to offer in person, but also on their mobile devices,” said Dr. Michael King, USM’s Assistant Vice President of Student Learning and Strategic Initiatives.
The app not only provides event information but also incentivizes participation through a badge system, rewarding students for attending events and getting involved. Kelsey Farr, marketing and communications manager for USM’s Division of Student Affairs, explained how students can personalize their experience within the app.
“As you put in your interests, as you find your groups, as you go to these events, you can start to accumulate badges,” Farr said. “So, I attended ten events this semester, get a badge, certain things you get rewarded for.”
In addition to tracking events and rewards, the app allows students to form study groups, helping them stay connected with classmates and remain focused on academics.
Through Eagle Hub, students now have a streamlined way to stay connected, discover new opportunities, and better manage their schedules—all from the convenience of their phones.
