Hattiesburg’s spring concert series, Live at 5, returns each Friday evening in April and May, drawing crowds to Town Square Park for live music, local vendors, and family-friendly activities.
The free outdoor event kicked off on April 4 and will run through May 10, and features different musical acts each week. Organized by local nonprofit Live at Five Productions, the series has become a seasonal staple in the Pine Belt area, promoting community engagement and local culture.
Each concert begins at 5 p.m. and typically wraps up by 9 p.m. Families spread blankets and chairs across the park’s lawn, kids run through the open grass, and food trucks line the edges of the park serving everything from tacos to snow cones. Local breweries and artists also set up booths, making the event a showcase for Hattiesburg’s small business community.
This spring’s lineup features a range of genres including blues, indie rock, folk, and funk. The stage is set at the center of Town Square Park, with professional lighting and sound supported by local sponsors.
For many attendees, Live at 5 is a weekly tradition.
“We come every week with our kids and friends,” said Hattiesburg resident Taneka Faust. “It’s safe, fun, and you always see someone you know. Plus, the music’s always good.”
The event is also a platform for emerging talent. Smaller regional bands often open for headliners, gaining exposure to a wider audience.
“We love the support of the music scene across Mississippi,” said one attendee Bobby Robertson.
Parking is available on surrounding streets and public lots, and the Hattiesburg Police Department provides traffic and safety support during the event. Though most guests walk or bike in from nearby neighborhoods.
There are no tickets required for entry. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, coolers, and a sense of community spirit.
Live at 5 continues to serve as a reminder of Hattiesburg’s commitment to local culture, family-friendly fun, and shared experiences in the heart of the city.
