The Tri Delta sorority at the University of Southern Mississippi hosted its annual Tri Hop pancake fundraiser on March 31, raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
From 5 to 9 p.m., community members visited the Tri Delta house on campus to purchase pancakes and support the hospital’s mission. The event is part of the sorority’s ongoing philanthropic partnership with St. Jude.
“All ticket sales and sponsorships from this event go directly to St. Jude to aid in the care of each of the patients and to help with their research,” said Allie McMahon, Tri Delta’s director of philanthropy.
McMahon oversees fundraising efforts and educational outreach related to St. Jude within the chapter and the local community.
“St. Jude is a hospital and research facility for childhood cancer and pediatric diseases,” McMahon said. “Patients and families that attend St. Jude never receive a bill for their care, housing, food, etc.”
Members of Tri Delta sold tickets and secured sponsorships from local businesses in the Hattiesburg area ahead of the event.
“Everyone that buys a ticket comes to the house and enjoys pancakes made at the house by our members,” McMahon said.
Attendees had the option to choose from various toppings, including chocolate chips, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries.
“We have chocolate chips, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries that can be used as toppings for the pancakes,” McMahon said. “This is truly just a fun event where we get to share our love for St. Jude.”
McMahon expressed appreciation for the support shown by the campus and local communities.
“My favorite part of Tri Hop was seeing all the other fraternity and sorority members come to support our philanthropy that we love so much,” she said. “That’s one of my favorite things about Southern Miss; we all support one another.”
