For Southern Miss, To The Top Collective isn’t just about sports. It’s about investing in people, fueling dreams and keeping the Golden Eagles soaring all the way to the top.
The initiative was created to support student-athletes in every aspect of their development. Its roots trace back to the experiences of Executive Director Peter Boehme, a former Southern Miss student-athlete.
“What got me to wanna do the collective or get involved with the collective was because of my time at Southern Miss and being a former student athlete,” Boehme said. “When I realized that the law was going to change and that NIL was going to be a reality, or the payment of players was going to be a reality. From experience, I know what type of impact that would have because of my time again.”
Boehme said the collective provides resources for Southern Miss athletes to thrive.
“Knowing that resources do exist for Hattiesburg and for Southern student-athletes, that was kind of the driver behind. We can do this now legally and we can create value that is already there because we have the student athletes who want to be here and want to compete in front of the fans,” he said.
The group emphasizes development beyond athletics, helping athletes grow academically, personally and professionally.
“Pointing towards the athletes who have stayed, and not only that, but turned down professional opportunities to stay in our baseball program,” Boehme said.
Southern Miss is proving it’s ready to compete, and To The Top Collective is leading the charge.
