On Friday afternoon, the Lady Golden Eagles played their final home game of the season, in which they fell 2-1.
The first half was a close one, where Southern Miss kept App State reeled in. Southern Miss played composed offense, even managing to generate some scoring chances. However, App State found the net in the 42nd minute due to the efforts of Libby Bermingham. This left the game at 1-0 in the favor of the Lady Mountaineers at halftime.
In the 49th minute Zayla Reagan tied the game at one, as she found the net herself. Later on in the 55th minute, Lady Mountaineer Izzi Wood scored the game winning goal. Following that goal the game was clearly left up to App State’s control over the clock. At that, they succeeded and pulled out the win.
In net, Maddie Ellis finished with three saves.
As for the next Lady Golden Eagle game, that will be in Marshall, on October 29th, with a kickoff of 6 p.m.
