The University of Southern Mississippi College Panhellenic Council (CPC) begins its formal sorority recruitment week on Labor Day holiday and extends until Bid Day, Sept. 9. CPC said 422 collegiate women are signed up for the 2014 fall recruitment.
CPC President Elena Lofton is looking forward to helping these women find their home within the sorority community. “I can’t wait to see them grow throughout the week as they learn more about what is important to them and what they can bring to the chapter they choose,” Lofton said.
In 2013, CPC established sorority recruitment at Southern Miss as a n0-frills recruitment. This means the recruitment process is more focused on values rather than the glitz and glamour.
Lofton believes last year’s values-based recruitment was a success. “It gave the incoming women perspective on what really mattered and helped them make more thoughtful decisions,” she said.
CPC sororities at Southern Miss include Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Pi Beta Phi and Phi Mu.
