The University Police Department made an arrest Monday for the investigation of a privacy invasion case that began in June 2014.
Quandom Benn, 31, was a former iTech technician at USM. He turned himself in at UPD in Bond Hall with his lawyer Monday after being charged with seven misdemeanor counts of stalking and seven misdemeanor counts of disturbing the peace. According to the press release, each offense is punishable by fines and jail time of up to one year.
According to WDAM, Benn allegedly stalked seven staff members using his personal laptop and cell phone during campus work hours.
“We’re happy to announce that no personal information of any employee or student has been jeopardized,” UPD Detective Rusty Keyes said.
Keyes also clarified that no USM property was used in these privacy invasions and that it was only executed on Benn’s personal computer and mobile phone.
Benn is now held in Forrest County Jail and will be prosecuted in the Forrest County Justice Court.
