Grammy-nominated artist Cordae dropped his sophomore album, ‘From a Bird’s Eye View’, exceeding expectations of the project’s hype.

Cordae made waves before ‘From a Bird’s Eye View’ with a strategic marketing scheme, topped by his viral freestyle on the LA Leakers show on Power 106 Los Angeles, which went viral. 

This album boasts star-studded features from Eminem, Freddie Gibbs, Gunna, H.E.R., Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Roddy Ricch and Stevie Wonder. The singles to this album were Gifted [ft. Roddy Rich], Super, and Sinister [ft. Lil Wayne].

‘From a Bird’s Eye View’ is composed of fourteen tracks, clocking in at a length of 42 minutes. Despite its high number of tracks, it’s an easy listen that can be repeated on your playlist.

Cordae displayed his story-telling talents on ‘From a Bird’s Eye View’, pouring into his experiences.

The album was a tribute to his fallen friends and his grandmother. The first song starts with his friend rapping from jail.

He also reminisces about his past, reflecting on where he came from to where he’s at now. “Westlake High” is one of the tracks that dives into his past, putting the listener into the passenger seat of his life story.

All while telling a story, this album still had hit-quality songs like Champagne Glasses [w/Stevie Wonder ft Freddie Gibbs], and Gifted [ft. Roddy Ricch & Ant Clemons]. 

But the standout track from the album is Chronicles [ft. H.E.R. & Lil Durk]. Cordae and H.E.R. seem to have this unbreakable chemistry every time they collaborate.

It’s gotten to the point where they don’t miss on a track and combined with a Lil Durk verse, this trio made a hit. 

‘Sinister’ is another standout track on this album, not only because it was one of the singles for this album, but Cordae dug into his bag.

It’s not discrediting that he wasn’t putting that effort throughout the album, but the combo of him and Lil Wayne going back and forth made a solid track.

Coming off a week with two releases from The Weeknd and Gunna, Cordae continues this strong run for music in 2022.

The production on this album is strong and Cordae stays in his lane that got him to this point. He doesn’t stray from that, playing it mostly safe but expanding on his sound.

This album is definitely a grower for some people, especially if you like the turn-up artists like Future, Gunna, and Young Thug and not so much the “lyrical miracle” rapper. That being said, this album has substance and some memorable tracks.
