With the Beach Volleyball season officially closed, the Golden Eagles celebrate several of their players earning Sun Belt Conference Honors.
Despite their defeat in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament, the Golden Eagles still had plenty of success this season. Two duos for the Golden Eagles earned All-Conference honors and one transfer graduate student earned the Newcomer of the Year award.
Duo Sadie McAda and Laurel Dennis won First-Team All Sun Belt Conference for their play this season. They held an 18-15 record in their sets including their 50th set win as a duo. In individual games, they are a collective 43-36 on the season. Despite only being juniors, Dennis and McAda will be graduating this year.
Dennis shared that she is pleased with the season they had.
“I think we’ve had a really good performance,” said Dennis. “Especially in conference play, compared to the past years that I’ve been here. I’m really proud of the team, I think everyone has been working really hard, and we’ve all been trying our best everyday.”
McAda joined Southern Miss after completing her high school career at Pleasanton High School in Texas. Outside of beach volleyball, McAda also played indoor volleyball for Southern Miss.
Dennis comes from Gulfport, Miss. and is a legacy child of Southern Miss. Her father, Stacy Donielle Dennis, played football for the Golden Eagles in the 1989-90 season.
Zuzanna Michalska and Abby Lewis earned their own hardware with Second Team All-Conference. Their 42-31 game record earned them a 19-13 set record across their matches this season.
Michalska earned her second All-Conference Second Team honors with Southern Miss. The Poland native also spent time with the indoor volleyball team during her time with Spartanburg Methodist College and Palm Beach State College.
The freshman Lewis joined Southern Miss this year. She had a successful high school career in Woodland, Texas and has a sister playing beach volleyball at Arizona State.
Transferring from West University of Timisoara prior to the season, Lustina Corcoz earned the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year Award. She holds an 11-18 record in her sets. Corcoz hails from Bucharest, Romania and has had several young duo partners this season. She went 6-10 with sophomore Y-Nhu Do, 3-7 with freshmen Margarita Grigoreva, and 1-0 with freshmen Brooklyn Bowdler and Izzy Beech.
