Hattiesburg hosts annual Hub Fest

The City of Hattiesburg recently partnered with the Area Development Partnership to host the annual downtown Hub Fest celebration.

In a carousel of creativity, community, and culture, Hub Fest attracted an estimated crowd of 30,000 attendees from across the Pine Belt and beyond. Organized by the Area Development Partnership, in collaboration with the City of Hattiesburg and the Forrest County Board of Supervisors, Hub Fest has become a hallmark event for the region, showcasing the vibrant spirit and diversity of the local community. And it also provides opportunities for small businesses to showcase their products and services.

“Hub Fest is a really great way to support small businesses that aren;t mom and pop shops that have a storefront, “ said Kayla Beavers, owner of Klassy Krafts. “It’s a really good thing for the community to come in and see what’s in the neighborhood.”

From colorful art displays to toe-tapping musical performances, tantalizing food offerings, and engaging activities for all ages, the festival offered something for everyone to enjoy. The streets of downtown Hattiesburg came alive with sights, sounds, and smells as vendors offered an array of goods ranging from handmade crafts and accessories to exquisite jewelry and luxurious lotions. Talented artists showcased their work in various mediums, from paintings and sculptures to photography and mixed media pieces.

Music filled the air throughout the day as local bands and performers took to the stages, delivering lively performances that had attendees tapping their feet and dancing along. From blues and jazz to rock and country, the musical lineup offered a diverse array of genres to suit every taste.

And no festival would be complete without a culinary adventure, and Hub Fest did not disappoint in this regard. Food vendors served up a delectable array of Southern favorites, from mouthwatering barbecue and savory soul food to sweet treats and refreshing beverages, ensuring that visitors stayed fueled and satisfied throughout the day.

For the younger attendees, Hub Fest offered a plethora of activities and games to keep them entertained, including swings, jump games, and other interactive attractions. Families enjoyed quality time together as children laughed and played, creating cherished memories against the backdrop of the bustling festival atmosphere.
As the sun began to set, the energy of the festival only seemed to intensify, with attendees soaking in every last moment of the day’s festivities. Laughter, music, and conversation filled the air as friends and neighbors came together to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Hattiesburg.

Reflecting on the success of this year’s event, organizers expressed their gratitude to the community for their continued support and enthusiasm. Hub Fest has truly become a beloved tradition in Hattiesburg, showcasing the city’s rich cultural heritage and providing a platform for local talent to shine.

As the final notes of music faded into the night and the last bites of food were savored, attendees departed with hearts full and smiles on their faces, already looking forward to next year’s Hub Fest. Citizens left in anticipation for another unforgettable celebration of art, music, food, and fun in the heart of downtown Hattiesburg.
