The Hope Clinic in Hattiesburg provides no-cost pregnancy help and resources to women experiencing crisis pregnancies.
The faith-based non-profit center offers many services, including limited OB ultrasounds, pregnancy tests and counseling through different options. Deborah Tucker, the nurse manager at the clinic, said there are resources for women during pregnancy and after they give birth.
“We also have pregnancy classes where moms can go and receive support throughout their pregnancy, and the first few years of their child’s life. And receive free baby items,” Tucker said.
When you first enter the building, there’s a waiting room where you check in. On the front desk, there’s a sign detailing the payment for the visit summary. The initial consultation is $140, the pregnancy test is $50, ultrasounds are $85 and the resources are $30. All of this brings the total to $305. At the bottom, there’s the word “Paid,” with the message beside it.
“Your visit today has been paid in full thanks to donations by our generous partners and donors,” said Tucker
According to Tucker, along with the free services, all your information remains confidential.
“We will see anyone who is open to seeing us and in a crisis pregnancy, or in need of pregnancy resources. We’re happy to help anyone who’s scared or needs confidential help. Everything here is confidential,” she said.
The clinic has many ongoing and upcoming opportunities to raise money, awareness and get the community involved. The clinic hosts an annual banquet in the fall to allow people in the community to come and learn about what the center offers. They also do open house tours for anyone to come and see what the clinic is like.
The next event takes place on the USM campus, said Tucker.
“We actually have a walk coming up that people can get involved in and help raise money in support of our clinic. That’s at USM, actually, on April 25, outside of the Payne Center,” she said.
The event, The Hero’s Walk for Hope, is held to help the clinic continue to offer and increase free services. The walk starts at 9:15 a.m., and all participants who sign up will be entered in a drawing for gift cards.
Tucker said that seeing people down the line, thriving after their pregnancy, is one of the most rewarding parts of the clinic.
“Seeing clinics months down the road after I saw them in a crisis pregnancy, and watching them thrive with their babies, is extremely rewarding. There’s nothing like it, especially those clinics that were considering terminating their pregnancy,” Tucker said.
The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the website at hopeclinicms.com or call the number 601-264-2181.
