Golden Eagle volleyball continues to win

The Golden Eagles defeated Southeastern Louisiana in a three-set sweep Tuesday night. The victory comes just two days before they participate in their third tournament of the season.

Junior setter Kristen Fleming accumulated 38 assists while sophomore middle blocker Quinci Hayward led all players with 15 kills.  The two players continued to add to their already dominant season. Hayward has been a great addition to the team since arriving on campus last fall.

The atmosphere was electric at Reed Green Coliseum. The match was designated as Military Appreciation Night. All active, reserve and retired military received free entry. The Army ROTC also played a match at intermission where the underclassmen battled the seniors.

The Eagles improved to 5-2 following the win. Home-court advantage has been an important factor in the early season; the team is 4-1 in home games.

The Eagles have 3-0 wins over Jackson State, Troy, New Orleans and Villanova.

The Eagles will play Prairie View A&M and McNeese State Sept. 13 and Louisiana-Monroe and Texas-Pan American Sept. 14. at the Big Daddy’s Invitational in Lake Charles, La., hosted by McNeese State.

The Eagles will play Northwestern State Sept. 17 and Chattanooga Sept. 20.
