UPD arrests former Gulf Park campus employee for cyberstalking

The University Police Department arrested a former student at the Gulf Park campus for allegedly stalking two faculty members and posting an email threat against the university, according to a USM press release.

Joshua Scarabin, 40, of Carierre, Miss., has been accused of two counts of cyberstalking and one count of posting a threat to cause injury. His bond has been set at $25,000 for each count in Forrest County Justice Court.

The press release reported that the arrest was made Saturday after warrants were served on Scarabin in Carierre.

“We urge any member of the University community to take threats made against them or others on the internet seriously, and to contact our department in these instances,” UPD Detective Rusty Keyes said in a USM press release. “We’re grateful for the assistance of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office in this matter.”
