The Golden Eagles performed strongly at the Josh Reidinger Invitational at Shauna Yelton Field at the Samford Track/Soccer Complex on Friday.
Addison McLaurin triumphed in the women’s 200-meter, finishing in a wind-aided time of 23.87 seconds. Javel Fullerton led the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.46 seconds, while Conner Mozee’s discus throw of 174-3 (53.42 meters) topped all competitors.
Elijah Kellum secured first place in the triple jump with a best of 45-1 (13.74 meters).
Additionally, three personal bests were recorded, with five other Golden Eagles achieving season bests. Mike Jones ran a wind-aided 100-meter in 10.64 seconds (+1.5 m/s) to take fourth.
Isaiah Lowery placed sixth in the men’s long jump with a mark of 22-6½ (6.87 meters, +1.3 m/s).
Valentino Rudolph finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.52 seconds (+1.5 m/s).
Keon Buck achieved a season-best of 10.72 seconds (+1.5 m/s) for seventh, followed closely by Kingsley Unorji in eighth with a time of 10.81 seconds (+1.5 m/s).
In the women’s 100 meters, Tacherria Lawson took second place with a time of 11.98 seconds (+0.2 m/s), while Amia Wright finished sixth overall in the event with a time of 12.40 seconds.
Sierra Edwards placed 10th in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a wind-aided 14.73 seconds (+2.5 m/s).
Amaria Bankhead came in 12th with a wind-aided time of 14.94 seconds (+2.5 m/s). Rudolph secured fourth in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 21.64 seconds (-0.1 m/s).
Buck took 10th overall in heat two with a time of 22.01 seconds (-0.4 m/s). In the women’s 200 meters, McLaurin finished first with a time of 23.87 seconds.
Kennedy Sanders set a new season best with a time of 23.89 seconds, both with a wind aid of +1.1 m/s. Amia Wright finished 10th in heat two with a time of 25.24 seconds (-0.1 m/s).
Isaiah Harper placed sixth in the men’s 400 meters, clocking in at 49.38 seconds—a new season best for the junior. In the 400 hurdles, Fullerton won by nearly two seconds with a time of 51.46 seconds.
Thomas Sensley made the top 10 with a time of 58.14 seconds. Conner Mozee led the field in the men’s discus throw with a mark of 175-3 (53.42 meters), while Chandler Taylor finished fifth overall with a throw of 149-05 (45.55 meters). Aryn Eady took seventh in the women’s discus throw, reaching 137-8 feet (41.98 meters) on her second attempt.
In the hammer throw, Qamarion Oatis and Taylor both placed in the top 10. Oatis’s throw of 185-8 (56.61 meters) earned him fifth, and Taylor finished 10th with a distance of 158-3 (48.23 meters).
In the women’s event, Eady led Southern Miss with a third-place finish of 162-1 (49.42 meters), while Meagan Womack took seventh with her best throw of 153-11 (46.92 meters).
In the high jump, Indea Pounds cleared 5-1¼ (1.56 meters) on her first attempt, finishing sixth overall.
She attempted to jump 5-3¼ (1.61 meters) but did not clear it in three tries.
Kaylee Spencer finished ninth with a season-best height of 5-1¼ (1.56 meters) on her second attempt. Spencer’s personal best in the long jump was 18-1½ (5.52 meters), giving her seventh overall.
Lowery’s personal best of 22-6½ (6.87 meters) placed him sixth in the men’s long jump, while Elijah Kellum reached 22-3 (6.78 meters) for eighth overall.
Michael Kasemervisz finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 51-7¼ on his fourth attempt. In the triple jump, Kellum used a wind-aided second attempt to reach 45-1 (13.74 meters) and take first place. Lowery placed third with a distance of 44-7 (13.59 meters) on his next-to-last jump. In the relays, Southern Miss women’s 4×100-meter team set a season-best time of 45.46 seconds.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action in Mobile, Alabama, for their final meet. The one-day event is on Friday, May 1.
