Students with the Southern Miss Student Media attended the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters awards on April 11 and brought home multiple awards.
The award banquet was held in Jackson, and student media centers along with professional media companies were in attendence.
A highlight of the night was when Southern Miss senior broadcast student Kennedi Drake was named
student broadcaster of the year!
SM2 also won first place for its new cast and had multiple students win first place in different categories.
SM2 brought home the following awards:
1st place Radio feature story – Sophia Vitrano
2nd place Radio feature story – Gabrielle Cox
Radio Student Broadcaster of the Year finalist – Stephani Perez-Munoz Televison Student Broadcaster of the Year winner – Kennedi Drake
3rd Place Audio newscast – Skylar Angus-Barker, Southern Miss Today
2nd place Continuing Coverage – Kennedi Drake
3rd place continuing coverage – Gabrielle Cox
Honorable mention Documentary – Michah Gibbs and Rochak Basnet
1st place General excellence in TV – SMTV Season 9, Episode 3
3rd place Sports story Visual – Alvia Walker
2nd place Sportscast – HubCity Gameday Episode 2
1st place TV Reporter – Kennedi Drake
1st place Videographer – Ashley Naylor
2nd place Videographer – Kiera Fox
