Over this past weekend, Lady Golden Eagle tennis engaged in a two game homestand where they faced off against Norfolk State and Kennesaw State. The Lady Golden Eagles walked away with one win and one loss. The one win coming at the expense of the Lady Trojans of Norfolk.
The Lady Golden Eagles began the weekend strong against Norfolk State, where they won 4-2. In said win, they managed to claim an early doubles point. Doubles wins from Angelina Blinova and Sakura Sudo, as well as Miranda Xu and Kamornwan Kornsila put the Lady Golden Eagles in front early.
Later in singles, the Lady Golden Eagles clinched the match thanks to Blinova starting it off, being followed by Sudo, and with Hannah Chambers notching a win of her own. However, Kornsila hammered the final nail into the coffin with her win, clinching the 4-2 win for Southern Miss.
The Golden Eagles had to quickly reload and face the Kennesaw State Lady Owls soon after. The Sudo and Blinova duo opened with a strong win. However, in the meantime, the Lady Owls won the other two courts to get in front 1-0. Following that, the Lady Golden Eagles gave Kennesaw State a fight but ultimately lost 4-0.
Southern Miss looks to reload and take on the rest of their spring schedule as best they can.
